Introduction

The Professional Development Center (PDC) of the Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) is offering training workshops on cybersecurity and programming in Python. These workshops are designed for individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced professionals. Participants will learn from experienced and qualified trainers who will provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers. The workshops will cover a variety of topics, including the most common types of cyberattacks and the basics of Python programming. The PDC is committed to providing high-quality training programs that help individuals develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace.


1. Workshop Details:

All training workshops will be of two days (weekend) with 4 hours per day sessions. The details of the trainings are as follows.


1.1. Cybersecurity workshop: Guardians of the cyberworld:

This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and skills they need to protect their personal and professional information from cyber threats. Participants will learn about the most common types of cyberattacks, how to identify them, and how to protect themselves. The details of the workshop are as follows.

Time: 10:00 A.M. to 02:00 P.M.

Date: March 2nd, 2024 (Saturday) and March 3rd, 2024 (Sunday)

Registration Deadline: February 28th, 2024

Venue: Virtual University Canal Road Campus, Faisalabad

1.2. Programming Fundamentals in Python:

This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of Python, a popular programming language. Participants will learn about Python syntax, data types, variables, functions, and loops. The details of this workshop are as follows.

  • Basic operations in Python: arithmetic, strings, and variables

  • Decision-making in Python: if, if-else, if-elif-else
  • Repeating code execution using loops: while and for loops
  • Code structuring and the concept of functions
  • Function invocation and returning a result from a function

  • Tuples – purpose, constructing and using
  • Dictionaries – purpose, constructing and using
  • Read and Write data from files
  • Pandas Library
  • Read and Write data from Excel / CSV files
  • Introduction to matplotlib
  • Customizing plots with labels and titles

University's Right to Cancel/Postpone:

The University reserves the right to cancel/postpone an event due to a range of valid reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, or emergencies.
  • Low participant turnout that could impact the event's effectiveness.
  • Unavailability of essential resources or facilities.

All participants will be informed about postponement of the event well before time.


Refunds and Credits:

If an event is canceled by the University, participants who have already paid registration fees will be eligible for a full refund.

Credit card service fee will be deducted as per banking regulations.

In case of postponement, the University might offer participants the option to transfer their registration fees to a rescheduled event.
