MathleteChampionship 2025:

The Al-Biruni Society for Mathematical Studies, department of Mathematics, Virtual University of Pakistan is proud to organize a mathematics quiz competition“Mathlete Championship 2025,". The competition is designed for BS Mathematics students and aims to promote mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and academic excellence among students while enhancing the university's reputation in mathematical education.


Objective:

The objective of the Mathlete Championship 2025 is to provide BS-level students with an opportunity to showcase and enhance their mathematical knowledge, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities in a competitive yet collaborative environment. The event aims to foster a passion for mathematics, promote academic excellence, and recognize outstanding talent in the field.



Participation Eligibility:

  • Participants must be BS Mathematics students of Virtual University of Pakistan, who have completed at least 4 semesters and have qualified the following courses:
    • Discrete Math
    • Calculus and Analytical Geometry
    • Basic Algebra and Trigonometry
    • Linear Algebra
    • Differential Equations
    • Statistics and Probability
    • Elementary topics in pure mathematics
  • Students must be residents of Lahore or surrounding areas (Kasur, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Manga Mandi, Bhai Pheru).

Competition Structure:

  • The competition will comprise two modes: Individual and Group.
  • 60 seats are available for individual competitions, and these seats will be filled on first come first serve basis.
  • For group competitions, a slot of 10 groups is available based on first come first serve basis.

Individual Competition:

  • Round 1: A screening test based on MCQs will be conducted for all 60 participants. The top 20 students will qualify for round 2..
  • Round 2: A descriptive questions-based test will be conducted for 20 shortlisted participants.The top 10 students from round 2 will qualify for the final round.
  • Final Round: A rapid-fire round will be conducted among the 10 finalists. The top 5 students with the highest scores in the rapid-fire round will be selected for cash prizes.

Group Competition:

  • Students must can form a group of their own, comprising 3 members. During the registration process, each student will register individually for the group competition. Before the competition begins, students are expected to form their own groups. If a student fails to form a group, the management committee will assign groups randomly.
  • Round 1: A screening test based on descriptive type questions will be conducted for all 10 groups. The top 5 groups will qualify for the round 2.
  • Round 2: Topic will be given for poster presentation to the group. Group will prepare and complete the poster presentation within the allocated time. The top 3 groups with the highest scores will advance to the final round.
  • Final Round: The 3 shortlisted groups will compete in a rapid-fire question- answer session.

Registration Fees:

  • PKR 500 per student for individual competition and PKR 1500 per group for group competition.

    • First Position: Rs.20,000/-
    • Second Position: Rs.15,000/-
    • Third Position: Rs.10,000/-
    • Fourth Position: Rs. 5000/-
    • Fifth Position: Rs. 3000/-

  • Group Competition:
    • Winner: Rs. 30,000/-
    • Runner Up: Rs. 20,000/-
